Integration removes pipework but increases the need for accurate coordination

An integrated heater transfers heat while forming part of the hot-tub structure, so there is no freestanding stove to position beside the tub and no long external flow-and-return route. This can produce a tidy installation and preserve the central bathing area. It also means the heater opening, water level, connection geometry and cladding detail have to be designed together. AISI 316 stainless steel is selected for demanding water-side use, but water chemistry, cleaning products and operating practice still need to follow the supplied guidance.

A 30 kW integrated heater, not a universal replacement stove

IntegraFire 30 becomes part of the hot-tub wall. That gives a cleaner outline than a freestanding external burner and avoids long exposed connecting pipes, but it also makes compatibility more exacting. AISI 316 is the live material specification and 30 kW the nominal output. The current drawing is image-led and does not publish a water-volume range, connection schedule or promised heating time, so those must be approved against the actual shell.

There is one heater variation because the tub must be designed around it

This is not a menu of outputs. The decision is whether the 30 kW integrated architecture suits the new-build tub. It is attractive where a tidy perimeter and retained central seating matter, and less suitable for retrofitting an existing shell without approved geometry. An external heater is easier to isolate and replace later; a submerged heater may be simpler in an all-timber vessel. IntegraFire should be chosen only when the supplier confirms the wall cut-out, high and low water paths, minimum water level, guard and cladding detail together.

The important “add-ons” are installation decisions

The current product page lists delivery rather than a catalogue of accessories. The real specification work therefore sits around the heater: chimney system, heat shielding, approved guard, ash tools, isolation/drain arrangement and service access. Each can improve safety or maintenance, but each also occupies space and must follow the heater drawing. Do not improvise connection sizes, use closed valves in a gravity circuit, or surround the firebox with permanent decking that prevents inspection. Treat the heater opening as part of the vessel design rather than a hole cut after manufacture. The low return must remain flooded, the upper connection must discharge without trapping air and the minimum operating water level must be permanently understandable to every user. A removable firebox-side panel makes ash removal, joint inspection and later replacement realistic; fixed cladding looks neater on day one but can turn routine work into dismantling. Ask whether the quotation includes the flue sections, rain cap, heat-resistant seals and tub-side protective screen. Those parts simplify coordination when supplied together, whereas sourcing them separately may reduce cost but transfers compatibility, clearance and warranty responsibility to the installer.

How to discuss 30 kW without promising hours

Nominal output alone cannot produce a responsible heat-up time. Heating 1,500 litres by 30°C requires about 52 kWh before losses; 30 kW would suggest under two hours only at impossible perfect transfer and full continuous output. Real wood firing, flue losses, wind, cover quality and water circulation extend that. The accepted design should state the actual water volume and operating assumptions, and the first controlled commissioning run should establish a safe real-world heating curve.

Specify the heater against a real tub, not a nominal water volume

Provide the supplier with the exact shell, material, water volume, port layout and intended circulation method. Confirm the chimney height and route, combustion-air needs, firebox approach, heat shielding and the clearance to timber, covers and surrounding structures. The 30 kW rating is not a promised heat-up time: starting water temperature, wind, ambient conditions, cover quality, fuel moisture and heat loss all affect performance. Installation and first firing should follow the final approved drawings and operating instructions.
