A hot tub designed around an external heater
TimberIN Nordic™ External Comfort is a round fibreglass hot tub with the heater outside the bathing area. The stove leaves the interior for bathers, while its body, chimney and technical equipment require space beside the tub.
Choose the size, timber cladding, wood-fired or hybrid heating, cover, insulation and wellbeing equipment when ordering. No accessory box is selected automatically, including choices described as included.
Dimensions, capacity and water volume
“180 cm” and “200 cm” are nominal configurator labels. The current technical drawings give these dimensions:

Wood-fired or hybrid wood-and-electric heating
The wood-fired configuration uses an external 22 kW heater in grade 316 stainless steel. The hybrid version keeps that stove and adds a 6 kW electric heater with a thermostat.

An electric-heating system is installed with its electrical enclosure and fuses. A qualified electrician must carry out and check the final connection, specifying the cable, protection, isolation and equipotential bonding for the actual equipment and site. The ordered unit’s rating plate and wiring documentation take precedence.
The documented 9 and 12 kW heaters require a three-phase supply. Higher outputs or gas heating require separate confirmation and are not additional standard UK selector choices. No fixed heating time is stated: volume, starting temperature, weather, cover, insulation, fuel and operating conditions all affect the result.
Fibreglass shell, cladding, insulation and covers
The fibreglass shell forms the inner surface in contact with water. The UK cladding choices are spruce, larch, thermowood and oak. Six shell colours are offered: white, blue, grey, blue pearl, grey pearl and granite.
The source specification documents approximately 4–5 cm of expanding-foam insulation for the walls and floor. The UK configurator offers both insulation choices at no extra charge; select and confirm them in the order summary.
The current UK cover choices are a wooden rounded top edge with a wooden lid, compatible with spruce or thermowood, or an insulated leather cover. Both are paid options. A separate fibreglass lid option is not listed in the current UK configurator.
Filtration, massage, lighting and controls
The optional sand filter is documented with a single-phase 220 V supply and a flow rate of 2–4 m³/h. The UK option includes a large wooden enclosure. UV is described in the source documentation as an accessory used together with sand filtration, not as a standalone system, but it is not a current UK add-on on this page. Confirm availability separately if required.
For a confirmed filter-and-UV combination, the documented routine is at least 3–4 hours of operation each day. Water testing and correctly dosed treatment remain necessary. The source allows 5-in-1 chlorine tablets but does not provide dosing or target test values for this product. Salt treatment is not recommended in that specification.
Two massage systems can be selected separately:
- Hydromassage: 220 V, approximately 5 A, with eight water jets.
- Air massage: 220 V, approximately 4 A, with twelve outlets.
Jets are normally spaced evenly around the tub. Request any alternative arrangement before manufacture. Without electric heating, the massage supply still needs its own appropriate protection and earthing, specified by an electrician.
Choose two or four LEDs, with five alternating colours or one held colour. Massage and lighting controls are built into the wall. Wi-Fi kits can be added for the corresponding massage systems, sand filter or electric heater. Confirm compatibility with the required Google, Apple or Amazon ecosystem and the actual equipment. Scheduling is not a guarantee against freezing or a substitute for supervision.
Complete the configuration before ordering
Check the order line by line. Type A wooden steps and a paddle are listed as included, and a bottom drain with stopper is offered as an included choice. These options are not automatically selected. Covers, insulation, drain fittings, filtration, massage, LEDs, Wi-Fi controls and delivery must all appear correctly in the final summary. The UK configurator also offers a chimney guard and ash shovel/rake as paid metal accessories.
Foundation, installation and delivery
The tub has its own feet or supports and needs a solid, completely level surface without a slope. A slope can cause deformation over time. Approximately 3 × 3 m is a practical initial area for the tub and external equipment. Compacted gravel, a timber deck or a tiled terrace may be suitable when the finished structure is designed for the site and load.
Allow approximately 2,000 kg for tub, water and bathers as an initial planning figure, then have the actual load-bearing design validated. Confirm heater and flue clearances, technical enclosures and service access for the final layout.
The model is delivered assembled. The current UK delivery choices are the green zone south of Leeds at £198 and the listed yellow-zone areas at £429. Delivery information specifies an 18 m / 40-tonne lorry, with a possible smaller 3.5-tonne vehicle in the London area. Confirm the delivery address, vehicle access, unloading arrangements and movement to the final base before ordering. The UK selector has no separate driver-unloading option; do not assume delivery includes final positioning.
Seasonal care, winter preparation and warranty
The source care instructions call for oiling the exterior timber twice a year. When the tub is shut down in freezing conditions, remove, drain and store the filter indoors; briefly run the air system as directed to expel residual water; remove and drain the hydromassage or electric-heating pumps; and drain the external stove for a prolonged shutdown. Follow the supplied equipment manuals for the exact sequence.
The documented manufacturer warranty is 24 months from receipt, subject to the full order documents, proof of purchase, correct use, compliance with the manuals and qualified electrical installation. Record transport damage or missing items on the delivery document and report them promptly.

What are the dimensions and capacities?
The nominal 180 cm model has a 1,802 mm internal diameter, 2,000 mm external diameter and 964 mm height, with capacity for 4–6 people and 1,400 litres. The nominal 200 cm model measures 2,042 mm internally, 2,240 mm externally and 964 mm high, with capacity for 6–8 people and 1,550 litres. Confirm critical measurements on the final drawing.
How does hybrid heating differ from wood-fired heating?

What electrical supply is required?
The source lists 6 kW at 220 V single-phase / 26 A or 380 V three-phase / 9 A, and 9 or 12 kW at 380 V three-phase / 14 or 18 A. These are documented equipment figures, not an installation design. A qualified electrician must check the ordered unit and specify the cable, protection, isolation, bonding and final connection.
Which equipment is included by default?
No accessory is automatically selected. Type A steps, a paddle, a bottom drain with stopper and wall/floor insulation are offered without an additional charge when selected. Cover and SPA equipment depend on the choices recorded in your final summary.
Can UV operate without a sand filter?
The documented UV system must operate with sand filtration. The source routine is at least 3–4 hours daily for the combined system, alongside water testing and correctly dosed treatment. UV is not currently a selectable UK add-on on this page, so confirm availability separately.
What foundation should I prepare?
Provide a solid, completely level surface. Approximately 3 × 3 m is a practical planning area. Around 2,000 kg including tub, water and bathers is an initial load estimate, which must be checked for the actual site. Properly designed compacted gravel, decking or a tiled terrace may be suitable.
Is it delivered assembled, and who positions it?
The model is delivered assembled. Confirm unloading with TimberIN before delivery; the UK page has no separate driver-unloading selection. Plan the transfer from the delivery point to the final base separately.
How should the tub be protected against freezing?
When shut down, follow the equipment manuals to remove, drain and store the filter indoors, clear residual water from the air system, and drain/remove relevant pumps. Drain the external stove during a prolonged shutdown. Wi-Fi scheduling can support a powered, supervised installation but does not guarantee frost protection.
How long does the water take to heat?
No fixed time is documented. Water volume, starting temperature, weather, cover, insulation, fuel and operating conditions determine the result.
What warranty applies?
The documented supplement states 24 months from receipt, subject to proof of purchase, correct use and installation, supplied instructions and qualified electrical work. Check the full order documents for the exact component coverage.
Everything is fine! Delivery was perfect and the driver helped us install the tub in the target place.
The product as such is also great. We had the opportunity to use it the first time yesterday. The only issue is to keep water temperature on the desired level – we made it too high :-).

Here are some pictures of our hot tub. We are very pleased with its performance, the wood -burner heats the water quickly and the electric heater maintains the temperature over an extended period if required . This was the only wooden tub we could find with insulation and we’re impressed that it holds its temperature well when both heaters are off. Throughout the process of ordering and delivery we were kept informed promptly with help and information.
We are happy for you to use the photos and the above statement for your customers. We’ve added a small modification as you will see from the photo of lid. The rim of the lid was scratching the edge of the tub so we slit some alkathene pipe of the same colour and attached it, with good results. We’ve also attached two stainless steel wires to stabilise the high chimney and protect it from strong winds.

Please find attached photos of out new hot tub. We have put the wood burner inside our garden room with the pipes going through the wall to the hot tub, so it heats the room and the hot tub.

We wanted to put grass around and so we had to wait for the laying and the grass to consolidate. At this moment we only need to connect the Blue Lagoon system. Yes we have used the spa with the wood burner thank you, and it’s lovely. I thought photos of it with lights and bubbles in action would be best. However, here is the first photo taken by my husband… showing mostly the view rather than the tub.
