Product Description
The classic barrel, sized from two to five metres · Made-to-order outdoor sauna
TimberIN Nordic Barrel™ Classic: a proven curved form that can grow with the room plan
Curved walls make efficient use of heat and create the familiar barrel feel
The circular section reduces unused high corners and gives the interior an enveloping character, with opposing benches that support conversation. At the compact end of the range, nearly all available length can be dedicated to the hot room. Longer variants create room for a more generous bench arrangement or additional functional zones, but they also increase air volume and external scale. Spruce has a pale traditional expression, while Thermowood offers a darker heat-treated appearance; both remain outdoor timber surfaces that need ventilation, drainage and maintenance appropriate to the supplied finish.
Barrel length, occupancy, weight and heater match
Nordic Barrel Classic is a mature model family with a useful technical progression. At 2 metres it is a focused 2–4-person room of about 800 kg; at 3 metres it is 4–6 and about 1,100 kg; at 4 metres it becomes 6–8 and about 1,400 kg; at 5 metres it reaches 8–10 and about 1,700 kg. Intermediate live lengths refine the plan, but a dressing room or porch is taken from the stated total length and therefore reduces heated bench space.
| 2,000 mm length | 2–4 people; approximately 800 kg; 1,800 mm internal room length |
|---|---|
| 3,000 mm length | 4–6 people; approximately 1,100 kg; 2,800 mm internal room length |
| 4,000 mm length | 6–8 people; approximately 1,400 kg; 3,800 mm internal room length |
| 5,000 mm length | 8–10 people; approximately 1,700 kg; 4,800 mm internal room length |
| Barrel diameter | Approximately 2,160 mm inside; 2,200 mm outside; 2,380 mm barrel height |
| Bench width | Approximately 500 mm |
| Small-room heaters | Harvia M3/M3 SL 16.5 kW or Cilindro 9 kW |
| Large-room heaters | Harvia 20 Pro/20 SL 24.1 kW or Cilindro approximately 10.8/11 kW; final volume match required |
Do not spend heated length twice
Choose length around the sauna room first. A 3-metre building with a 1-metre dressing room leaves roughly a 2-metre hot room; a 4-metre unit can combine 3 metres of sauna with a 1-metre changing space; a porch has the same subtractive effect. M3 is the normal wood choice for 2–4 metre sauna rooms, while 20-series heaters serve larger rooms. SL models load from outside. A 9 kW Cilindro fits 2–3 metre rooms; the 11 kW route serves larger volume. Spruce or Thermowood should be decided after layout and heater.
| Decision | Choices currently selectable |
|---|---|
| Woodtype | Spruce · Thermo Wood |
| Length | 2000 mm · 2500 mm · 3000 mm · 3500 mm · 4000 mm · 4500 mm · 5000 mm |
Warm-up changes with every room subdivision
The sheet correctly avoids one number of minutes for a 2–5 metre family. Heater sizing uses the heated cubic volume after subtracting dressing room or porch, then adjusts for glass and insulation. A large heater in a short room is not a shortcut; an undersized heater in a glazed 5-metre build is equally poor. Ask the final drawing to state hot-room dimensions and heater match. Commission with the ventilation open as designed and measure warm-up under realistic winter conditions.
Choose length by drawing the people and functions first
Decide how many adults will sit or recline at the same time and whether anyone needs a changing or cooling threshold inside the shell. Ask for the internal layout of the chosen length rather than assuming every extra metre becomes usable bench. Heater output must account for room volume, glazing and local exposure. Prepare continuous level support, confirm crane or delivery access and orient the door away from awkward wind and public sightlines. Keep the lower shell clear of standing water and preserve access for exterior timber care.

Hi Albert,
I can send you the pictures, but we don’t speak Danish:) is it crucial? I can ask someone to translate:)
We are happy with the sauna!
Dear Albert,
My Sauna arrived at the depot yesterday at 20.00 Hrs, the delay was mostly due to the illegal immigrants in Calais causing all trucks to be examined.
The sauna seems to be very well built, and is a very nice design with an interesting and appealing look to it. It may take a week or so to place in the spot I have for it, but I will send you pictures etc, when this is done.
Many Thanks to your team for their good work.
Yours sincerely,
Steve
I have been delighted with the service from TimberIN, great attention to detail and technically superior to others I had examined. The slow grown timber from the north is stronger and looks much better. The guidance given by TimberIN was invaluable in picking the best options. The team at TimberIN from design to flawless delivery was exemplary and I can recommend them.
Peter
We are very pleased with our barrel sauna – the view from the glass window is amazing. We have got the temperature up to 90 deg C so it is working nicely.
The sauna is very good quality. Because of the space we were building it in we had the sauna delivered unassembled and we had a local handyman assemble it.
Thank you for your help and advice when required it was appreciated.
Regards Anthony

Hello Albertas,
The sauna is completed and I must tell you how very pleased we are with it, it looks amazing. We have yet to fire up the burner but will look forward to that this weekend hopefully.
The quality of the build is superb and construction was quite straightforward. The service you provided has been outstanding, always helpful, polite and professional. It has been a pleasure.
I hope this is not too many photos. It’s such a lovely building to take photos of. Our little dog Rio likes the look of the sauna too.
